Solar Impulse

This experimental airplane, the Solar Impulse, has brought humanity one step closer into turning towards renewable energy. Its historic 24 hour flight shows that renewable resources are viable and are certainly worth looking/investing into. Soaking up the sun through the morning till the sun sets and continued to power on through the night. This green sucker is powered by four 10 Horse-power electric engines. The batteries, which weigh 882 pounds, are stored in the fuselage.

What does this all mean for the automobile industry? Quite a lot. The United States is the leading country in producing green house gases. The Nissan Leaf is a giant step into the right direction. The same goes for Tesla; these companies creating all electric vehicles have invested a great deal of money developing the batteries for these cars. As the batteries are one of the few "flaws" that have to be worked out in electric vehicles.
